Back in 1983, five people lost their lives in a robbery gone wrong. The assailants, two identified as Darnell Hartsfield and his cousin Romeo Pinkerton, were eventually convicted of this crime decades later. A third DNA profile found doesn’t match any of the suspects. That person is still unidentified and still being pursued by law enforcement.
All 5 victims had been shot. Opie Hughes had been sexually assaulted and found 50 yards away from the rest of the victims.
The victims that died that day were Mary Tyler, 37, Opie Hughes, 39, Joey Johnson, 20, David Maxwell, 20 and Monte Landers, 19.
